i dunno about sword fighters or people who fence, but martial artist usually don't show any emotion or intent so his/her opponent can't guess what he's gonna do next.

The dialogue did its fair share of killing the Palpatine/Windu scene, too.

Like, what crime did Palpatine commit? It'd be sort of like if someone in our country was elected to office and he turned out to be a Nazi. While the voters probably wouldn't be happy, there's no crime.

When Palpatine kills Windu, he says, "UNLIMITED POWER!" for no reason (except maybe for the benefit of the kindergarteners in the audience).

I found all of Epi 3's lightsaber fights weak. I guess Anakin vs. Obi-wan's not so bad, but it's hard to take seriously with all that silly dialogue. The rest stink and have absolutely no tension.

My favorite was Maul vs. Obi-wan and Qui-gon in Episode 1. Or maybe Luke vs. Vader right before the "I am your father" line.

Yeah. No matter what you can say about the lightsaber battle in the original Star Wars, that was still so much worse.

You could try drawing loose, sketchy gestural swordfighting poses, just to get a feel for the basic flow of things. And not necessarily the exact poses you want for the two Honens fighting, just a page or two of swordfighting stick figures. And hey, you might lay out some scenes you didn't intend to make, but end up liking anyway. Of course, don't draw those and call it a day, but try building from them afterwards.

As far as facial expressions go, that's another issue. It was suggested that the modern-day Honen shouldn't look so scared because he wouldn't, in reality, be able to fight like that (although he's not exactly winning).

I thought the way he looked was just fine, but if you are seriously worried about that, then maybe you could tone down his expression a bit, while still making the worry evident in his face somehow. You're better at it...

I've pretty much lost my confidence in it. I have the entire scene scripted so I basically know what happens, but I'm not confident that I can draw it coherently. It may be difficult to tell exactly what's going on.

1). You drew a few scenes and don't like the way they look? Because I thought what you had so far was looking really good. (And I hate to say this knowing how you feel about it, but you ARE good at doing facial expressions.)

2). You drew a few scenes and now don't have any idea where to go next with it?

3). You are trying to draw a particular pose, but can't figure out how to do it right and you...

I told FO she might want to see 300, because a) that movie was based on a comic book in still pictures and b) the comic book influence does show through, because instead of being sped up like most modern action scenes, the fight scenes segue into slow motion to emphasize the "action poses" that would be shown in a still frame.

If you need advice for something, there really isn't anyplace you can go.

I was telling Crawl that I really need help with the swordfight scene AT6, but there's really no place I could go to ask for advice on it, because (1) I don't trust that anyone else really knows any more than I do and that their suggestions would be an actual improvement and (2) if I asked for a source of inspiration I'd probably just get directed to some bullshit anime where swords and people...
