        <![CDATA[ For a bit of a challenge -- and hopefully one that will give me more to show for it at the end than beating a videogame, and maybe allow for more
self-expression and creativity, too -- I decided to try to build a guitar.


I&#39;ll spare some of the details of my plans for now.  I&#39;ve already made a bit of saw dust and some progress.  Most recently, I joined some wood for the
body of the guitar:





I got some material for making a pickup, and I also got a nut and a bridge.

			<description><![CDATA[ I don&#39;t think FO knew what I meant when I was talking about front and rear loaded guitars.

So, if you look at a Stratocaster, it&#39;ll look like this:

			<description><![CDATA[ I figured it was time to glue the body pieces together!

I used a pillar sander earlier to get rid of the most egregious left over wood on the inside ... not that you could probably tell.
<br>
<br>
I went over the maple with 150 grit (because I didn&#39;t think it was as good as the mahogany), then 400 grit sandpaper, to freshen up the surface for gluing,
and an extra assurance of flatness.  I just used 400 on the mahogany.

			<description><![CDATA[ Oh, yeah, I think it&#39;ll be fine.  I just put four quick-grips on it, and even with that few, that got rid of pretty much all the gaps.  And I don&#39;t
think there&#39;s any issue with the dowel holes not being lined up.  If that was the case, then the fit would be tight and it would be difficult to get them
together.  However, they fit together quite easily.

			<description><![CDATA[ I was in wood craft the other day, and I overheard that someone just lost maybe three or four fingers in an instant on a table saw.  He took his eyes off what
he was doing for a split second, and, bam, they were gone.

I think I will at least try to clean up those chambers by sanding them a little bit.  I mean, there&#39;s being careful with the router, and there&#39;s being
ridiculous, and right now it&#39;s kind of ridiculous.

I did a little bit of chamber clean up, but decided not to push it.  I free-handed routed both the chamber connection, and the route for the pickup wires.

Since I wasn&#39;t very happy with how the maple interior turned out after routing it, I&#39;m not sure what to do about this.  I probably will need to at

I drilled the dowel holes, checked to make sure I could put the maple top on...
<br>

I couldn&#39;t.  The holes lined up (thank God), but there was about a half an inch of space between the two pieces of wood.   I drilled the holes deeper,
checked again, it worked.

...traced the outline of the body, traced the outline of the cavities...
<br>

And after I did that, you could see how I got the dimensions of this... ]]></description>

First, the router bit came out of the collet and took a bite out of the sound hole.  Opps.  It&#39;s not as bad as I first thought.  It&#39;s not a project
ruiner.  I started sanding it out as the last thing I did before I left, and I guess it&#39;ll be okay.  It&#39;ll just be a little bigger than I had planned.
