Recently finished watching the 178 episode run of the Prince of Tennis anime and the live action movie. The movie was the usual fan service crap, but the
series was surprisingly good, and at a few times a little unpredictable (though the majority of matches could be predicted based on who hadn't played yet).
For a sports anime, I found it oddly entertaining and a little addictive. It even got my roommate and I to try our own hands at tennis, which we've now
been playing for a few...

Amazingly retarded? Yup. 'S why I liked it. The main character's dad is pretty entertaining... I don't know about the English dub. I only saw one
episode in English, and the rest in Japanese with subtitles. They never really play up a romance angle, though, as the main character's, like, 12. I
wouldn't put it on some pedestal with the all-time great cartoons or anything, but if I'm gonna watch sports anime, it's gotta be pretty retarded.

watched a few episodes and thought it was amazingly retarded but not as fun as dragonball z. prince of tennis seems more like "samurai kung fu warrior of
tennis". maybe something's lost in translation 'cause the english version i watched made all his opponents sound like wiggaz, which sure as hell
doesn't make the show sounds any less retarded without being any fun at all. and there's the usual cliche of the hero being antisocial but the girls
still love him.
