I was reading the worst sequels thread and started thinking about good games which had come out stateside that had really good sequels that just never made it
out in the US and Canada (especially with finding about NES reproductions on here), so I started going through my collection. Some favorites of mine:

Dragon Force II (Saturn)

Shining Force III scenarios 2 and 3 (Saturn)

Twinkle Star Sprites: The Petite Princess (PS2, sequel to the Neo Geo game)

Mother 3 (GBA)

Langrisser 2, 3, 4,...

Another note I forgot to mention:

If you play a game with Redbook audio on the Playstation with a disc swap method, the music probably won't work at all. If the game you boot with also has
Redbook audio, you might get some music, but I still don't think it works correctly (unless you get lucky).

I noticed that with Donpachi.

not too difficult with a soldering iron, though, and neither is a Playsation. If you're into Playstation or PS2 imports, I'd strongly suggest just
getting a Japanese PS2. They're pretty affordable, and a lot of the games that experience early compatibility issues were redone in the PS books series

Yeah, a game genie'll do it for you on SNES. A Game Shark will play just about anything on Dreamcast, and the N64 Game Shark works as well, though the only
really popular imports on N64 were Sin and Punishment and the Evangelion action game on it (Animal Crossing debuted there as well, but there's no reason to
play that in Japanese on an older system other than to satisfy curiosity). A game genie will take care of most Genesis games, or just a Genesis 3 has a wide
enough cartridge...

The more importing you do, the more you'll see a ton of English in especially strategy and arcade games. Arcade games often have more English than Japanese
in them (especially shooters and fighters), and strategy games have a decent amount of either English or icon-driven menus, making them pretty accessible. The
language barrier only gets really nasty in games that have levels with a bunch of different mission objectives or in text-heavy RPGs and adventures. Front
