So, FO got a Captain and Tennille album, and I find out that "The Captain"'s real name is Daryl Dragon.

What the hell? Dragon is a much cooler nickname than Captain.

How can someone from a band go solo?

FO brought this point up. You can't really go solo, because (notwithstanding very rare exceptions) you still need a band. It's just that, say, when Morrisey left The Smiths or David Lee Roth left Van Halen, the new band got less credit relative to the singer.

This was really funny when Darryl Hall went solo.

Have you ever noticed that sometimes artists have more than one hit song based on the same particular subject?

I don't mean general subjects like love, war, drugs, anger, etc. I mean something more particular.

Like, for example, George Thorogood has had two hit songs about drinking different kinds of alcoholic beverages, "I Drink Alone" and "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer".

So, when I was younger, I guess our grade school tried to expose us to different things. We had magic shows, marionette shows ... and sometimes quartets from the local symphony.

So, it'd be a brass or a string quartet. Usually, they'd go through all their instruments. "This is what the Jaws theme sounds like on a violin." "This is what the Jaws theme sounds like on a cello." "This is what the Jaws theme sounds like on a double bass."...

For years, I thought there was a song by The Who called "Teenage Wasteland", but it turns out that it's really called "Baba O'Reilly". I also never knew for years that song by The Grateful Dead is actually called "Touch of Grey" and not "I Will Survive" or "I Will Get By".

There are other songs like that. It seems that some people believe there is an AC/DC song called "Son of a Bitch", but it's actually...

I love this game's soundtrack, and I can't believe you don't have any MP3s of it!

The final boss theme has a remix of the Bowser theme from earlier games and some awesome hard rock and electric guitar work!

The cloudy Flower Fields theme is so sad! All the plants are gonna die, and that song is a perfect...

Suikoden music

I know FO isn't a huge fan of Suikoden 2's music, but I think the first Suikoden game had a better soundtrack. There isn't a PSF dump of it as far as I know (maybe it's all streamed?), but if you can get some files some Galbadia Hotel or another location it might be worth checking out.

Does anyone know what exactly are the instruments used in these videogame songs are? I'm having a hard time pinpointing what they are...and I, uhh, hope you don't mind this total stranger barging in and asking this :

1) 'Hero's theme', Final Fantasy Tactics. The two string instruments played at low and high pitches that comprise the songs melody...A harp of some kind is the best guess I have...Not sure if it was put up on this site, so here's a link:
