I don't know if you guys have heard, but most of the big film distributors are severely cutting back or shutting down their independent and arthouse film branches. Ebert also had a blog article a while back expressing disappointment about how few movies were purchased at the Toronto Film Festival and this general topic (here).

This is a difficult to watch, sometimes boring film. The Doors form early in the film, and after that it's just an endless series of Jim Morrison being spaced out on drugs and self destructing.

It made me think about the three act structure. I think when people are newly exposed to ideas like that, their first instinct is to rebel against them. It seems like this movie could be ammunition for rebelling. "If Jim Morrison's life was It's already obsolete!

I tried to edit all the posts with the blank media players.....and the page would go to a white screen with a message that stated that my request failed because of site maintenace or some size discrepancy.

The St. Petersburg Paradox

The idea is that there is a lottery where someone flips a coin. If it comes up heads, you lose. If it comes up tails, you win a dollar and keep going. Every time it comes up tails, your winnings double (2 dollars, 4, 8, 16...), until you hit heads and it stops.

What would make for a more interesting story?

A) Rats at a national laboratory given experimental injections, they gain intelligence, learn to manipulate their environment, eventually escape from the lab, and begin their own society.

B) A kid has pneumonia, but he also has to move.

So of course The Secret of NIMH focuses on B. It also adds an irritating "comic relief" crow character voiced by Dom DeLuise who has nothing whatsoever to do with the story...

I don't know whether this can be done anywhere in the game or only in certain rooms, but I've discovered that if you fall onto a spiked object, there is a very, very slim chance, if you time it exactly right, that you can hit the jump button and jump off the spikes, back up to safety instead of dying. I just did this in Room 05-12 of Quagmire.

Mexican coke

Our grocery store finally got in Coca Cola from Mexico. The notable thing about this is that it is made with real sugar, as opposed to corn syrup.

It's kind of pricey, for what it is. A single serving bottle is $2.

I've heard that around passover, you might get Coke with real sugar, though they don't advertise it. The clue is that the bottle top is yellow.
